Current Openings

Amusement Park
City Park Carousel Gardens is looking for friendly, enthusiastic, upbeat people to join our team for the 2012 season in the Amusement Park. You must be able to cheerfully and politely interact with the public, be comfortable working with children, stand on your feet for up to 8 hours, work outside, be available on weekends and evenings, and have experience handling cash. We cross train our staff to cashier as well as operate a ride. Dependability is critical, and we will ask for and verify job references. Only smiling faces will be considered! Approximately 20-25 hours per week to start; up to 35 hours a week during the summer months.

Boating
Mature minded person is needed to supervise the daily operations of our paddle boat rentals. The successful candidate must be energetic, friendly, outgoing, enjoy working outdoors and be comfortable around water; must be able to work independently and have experience supervising others. Excellent customer service skills are critical; must be able to follow all safety guidelines and complete a short course on boating safety after date of hire. Manager of Amusements
Non-Exempt
SUMMARY: Responsible for daily operations of Carousel Gardens, Storyland, & Boating. Duties include:

  • Hiring, training, scheduling and supervising all staff to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Develop and implement motivational incentives.
  • Provide proper, comprehensive training on safety matters.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all staff follows City Park's established cash handling policy.
  • Identify and resolve minor matters with the POS system; assess when to call IT.
  • Schedule staff for optimal customer service while staying within departmental budget.
  • Monitor and order supplies as needed.
  • Guarantee that all special events are staffed properly, including school nights, birthday parties, field trips, etc.
  • Communicate with staff mechanics on issues pertaining to all rides, including down time, safety, and operational training.
  • Make certain that staff is trained on incident protocol.
  • Assist Director with budget planning.
  • Boating: making sure that all safety procedures are strictly followed; proper forms are filled out; instructions provided to renters.
  • Co-ordinate activities in Storyland with outside vendors.
  • Daily, visible, high profile during open hours.
  • Develop and maintain positive, working relationships with vendors; other departments and staff.
  • Address all disciplinary matters.
  • Handle confidential matters as necessary.
  • Able to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Must be able to work outdoors.
  • Weekends, evenings, and holidays are mandatory.
  • Attend meetings on behalf of director in his/her absence.
  • Represent director in matters regarding Carousel Gardens, Storyland & Boating during his/her absence.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum five years of supervisory experience managing front line personnel.
Cash handling experience mandatory.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs required.

Applicant Requirement Information

In order to be considered for employment with New Orleans City Park Improvement Association, the following requirements must be met.

  1. All employees hired after November 18, 1996 will be required to take a urine drug test within the first ninety (90) days of employment. Refusal to submit to a urine test shall constitute withdrawal of your application for employment and/or termination of employment.
  2. Effective January 1, 2002, all qualified applicants (upon request) will be required to submit information regarding previous/current employers in order to verify references before an offer of employment can be extended. Failure to comply with this request will disqualify the applicant for consideration of employment.
  3. Effective January 1, 2002, all qualified applicants (upon request) will be required to submit authorization for a criminal background check before an offer of employment can be extended. Failure to comply with this request will disqualify the applicant for consideration of employment.
  4. U.S. law requires that if hired, you must furnish appropriate documentation establishing identity and employment eligibility within 72 hours of hire date. Failure to provide this information will cause your employment with NOCPIA to be terminated. A list of acceptable documents can be provided upon request.
